Maramures is an alive museum and it offers a real journey back in time. All traditions and ancient crafts are unique. It’s a real joy to mix with the locals and watch their daily activities, and this is what I will help you with!!
Bucovina, on the other hand, is an idyllic place with awesome landscapes, spread-out village and very famous for the painted churches (UNESCO) and egg painting.
These are two of the most original region in Europe, in culture and traditions. I will be there for you to understand them, to enhance your cultural experience, we’ll join the locals in their daily activities and I will share with you all the hidden and unique gems.
ITINERARY
This is a suggested itinerary and I can customise it.
Day 1. Drive to Maramures region with stops for lunch.(8 h)
Day 2. Visit the Merry Cemetery from Sapanta, the workshop of the cemetery’s creator, and the fabulous Barsana Monastery.(8 h)
Day 3. Walk through the villages of Maramures, visit wooden churches, craftsmen, traditional activities from Mara-Cosau Valley.(8 h)
Day 4. Enjoy the ride with the Mocanita steam train in Vaser Valley, or visit more beautiful sites in Iza Valley.(8 h)
Day 5. Drive to Bucovina. Stop in Ciocanesti village, declared a museum for its painted houses. Visit Moldovita’s painted churches (Unesco).(8 h)
Day 6. Visit Sucevita and Voronet painted churches. Voronet is known as The Sistine Chapel of the East, unique for its famous blue, called the blue of Voronet. Afterwards, learn the beautiful craft of egg-painting with a local artist. (8 h)
Day 7. Before leaving Bucovina, we visit the impressive egg museum in Vama, of a local artist. Return to Timisoara. (8 h)
